Today we had a different organizing perspective than most days. Typically we work with a motivated client trying to “clear the clutter” because they are either overwhelmed with too many belongings or trying to downsize or move. However, today we met with someone who had taken over her parents’ home after their passing and has spent several years finding homes for their belongings. She is overwhelmed not by her own personal possessions but by those of her parents. It makes me appreciate the fact that when I recently visited my parents, my mom showed me the photos she had been through, and there were envelopes designated for my siblings and me. They have been weeding out and sorting over the years as a continuous process with an extra “purge” every time they’ve moved.
