Decluttering is often the first step to preparing your home for sale. We can help you with those closets that are stuffed to the brim, and linen cabinets overflowing with towels and sheets. You want prospective buyers to think of your home as having lots of storage space, and nothing says the opposite more than crowded closets, kitchens, pantries, and storage areas. Now is the time to evaluate what you use and need before you move.
What to keep?
ShipShape Organize will assist you with what to keep, donate, sell or toss. We will find homes for those items which you don’t want to bring with you. Why move books or files that you don’t use or need! Moving is a perfect time to declutter. A good friend of mine once said, “clutter eats cash” – so true. You want to get the best price possible for your home so eliminate the clutter.
Pack what you are taking with you
We often pack items up that you know you are keeping yet recognize that you don’t need while the house is on the market. There is nothing wrong with neatly stacked boxes in the attic or basement, as long as it doesn’t scream clutter!
The first suggestion most stagers make is to eliminate some of your furniture pieces to make the rooms look larger. We will make suggestions on furniture placement and what is needed to be done to stage the home without you having the expense of a stager who will often recommend bringing new furniture in. It’s amazing what a difference can be made by tidying up the bookshelves, adding a few throw pillows, plants in dark corners or taking down curtains – your space can be transformed. Maybe it will be transformed so much, you will wish that you had done it earlier! And, if you in fact need a stager, we can provide recommendations.
