Organizing Tip #5
Ask yourself: Am I going to really read all these catalogs I receive?
Paper, paper, paper…it’s everywhere! Piled high on our desks, stuffed into folders in our desk drawers, and incoming every day without as much outgoing. So, how do we handle it all? I could write an entire chapter on this one topic, if not a book. To start small, let’s focus on catalogs. Are you one of those people who actually buy from catalogs after looking at them and seeing an item you like but may not need? To make matters worse, you had no intention of buying before you opened the catalog? Then, maybe the best solution is to not even open it in the first place. If you on the other hand, are the type who does all your Christmas shopping from catalogs and avoid the crowds and hassle of the stores, then good for you!
Consider opting out by contacting www.catalogchoice.org if you find yourself buying things you don’t need, or not even opening the catalog after a month has gone by. You can search for catalogs you receive and just enter the code from the cover and they’ll handle the rest. If you keep your catalogs in hopes that you might have time to go through them someday and they are piling up, then think again and recycle and take the next step and unsubscribe.
