Closet Organization

An Organized Closet

There are many tools we use to help clients organize their closets and our first rule to having a presentable space is to use similar hangers.  We particularly like the velvet ones that are slim to reduce valuable space and we also find that blouses and dresses that might slip off of plastic hangers work really well with the felt ones.   Additionally, you’ll find your sweaters don’t have mis-shaped shoulders after coming off of the hangar.  They come in various versions and colors with a cross-bar for slacks and some of them have a hook so you can work the space vertically.  The hangars for blouses have a more rounded end.  You’ll be amazed at what something so simple can do to your closet, and you will breathe a sigh of relief when you walk into your new, organized closet.  It really does make a difference.  Then another easy fix is to group like with like so all your blouses are facing the same direction and long sleeves are kept together and separated from short sleeves and sleeveless.  The next step is to organize by color and pattern.  Similarly with pants, if you use the cross bar to hang a pair of slacks, try to have the waist of each pair on the same side of the closet and once again, work with color.  You may also want to separate your pants by work vs. casual.  Function first, color next.  Try these few simple fixes and let us know what you think.  It’s a great way to start your day walking into a well-organized closet!
