The ShipShape Story: Why I Do What I Do – Deb Stone
Why I Do What I Do (And Why It Matters More Than You Think)
One of the things we hear most often from clients is, “I just need help so I can focus on the important stuff—my kids, my job, my creative projects… my life.”
Recently, a client told me, “I’m taking a few days off to get my house in order—it’s out of control. I just got promoted, and I really need to focus on work, not the chaos at home.”
This isn’t unusual. In fact, it’s incredibly common. When our homes are cluttered and disorganized, it can feel like everything else is harder too. There’s this invisible weight that comes with not being able to find what you need when you need it—like scrambling for your keys as you’re already running late. The stress builds, and suddenly the clutter isn’t just physical—it’s mental, too.
But here’s the thing: you should be in charge of your stuff, not the other way around.
That’s one of the biggest reasons I started this business—to help people reclaim their space, their time, and their peace of mind.
But the other reason? My clients.
Their feedback, their appreciation, their “you seriously just read my mind” moments—those are what make this work so rewarding. Sure, figuring out the right systems for each person can be a puzzle. But with a background in psychology, I love that part—understanding how people think, how they function, and how they interact with the spaces around them.
There’s something really satisfying about helping someone go from overwhelmed to totally in control. Whether it’s making sure they can finally locate that important insurance policy or giving special mementos a proper home, it means something.
So that’s my “why.” I believe we all want to be the authors of our own stories. But when life feels frantic and cluttered, it’s hard to write the version of the story we really want to live.
If you’re feeling stuck in survival mode, maybe it’s time for a reset. We’d love to help you get ShipShape.
